Photography Community
The Magnetic Island Photography Community working group was created in 2023 to bring like-minded residents and travelers together through the art of photography. Whether you use a film camera, a DSLR or an iPhone, all forms of photography are welcomed and encouraged.
The Photography Community is best known for their debut event that occurred in October of 2023, ‘’The Best of Magnetic Island Photography Showcase’’ which had just under 300 images on display from 76 entrants. The images were taken around Magnetic Island using various devices. The event was held for 3 days and there was an estimate of 600–700 people that attended the FREE event.

Promote community engagement around the beautiful natural environment of Magnetic Island.

Encourage more community members of all ages into the outdoor lifestyle through a shared interest in photography.

Provide a welcoming space for community members to meet through that shared interest where their paths might not otherwise have crossed.

Inform the community about the fragile natural environment existing on and around Magnetic Island and to encourage respect for the cultural and environmental heritage of the Island.
